A Book Cover: “52: My Journey of Light and Discovery”
Assignment Number Forty Six is a cover for your new book: “52: My Journey of Light and Discovery”
Or “How I suspended sanity and actually watched that bozo every Wednesday night for a year…”
DUE WEDNESDAY, December 26, BY SHOWTIME
Book Covers are striking… and they have to pull you in. Look at the name of the book… find the visual elements there. The name is full of imagery, and descriptive, fun visual words.
Some of you will hit on some well worn, time tested visuals for the words. Others, I am sure, will knock us out with something we didn’t see – but we will when we see the words and the image.

Feel Free to recolor the type or design your own cover.
Vertical, 7.5 x 9, bleed is OK as well as space around. If you are design aware, go ahead and add something to it. If your first inclination is to use Papyrus or Comic Sans… put the mouse down and slowly move away from the keyboard.
You have to ask yourself if you want to do something radical, or something cliche’? If you have been in a modern book store, you know the visual clutter I am referring to. Images and color and graphics and typography abound. ALL with the purpose of snagging your eye long enough to make you want to check it out. Heady stuff. Book stores are the visual equivalent of the stock exchange when things are going south… all those guys and gals yelling to be seen… yeah – like that but with pictures/graphics/color/typography.
