Assignment Number Forty Eight: “Baby, it’s cold outside”
DUE WEDNESDAY, January 16, BY SHOWTIME
That is the assignment. Cold, frigid air has gripped the area where you live and an auto parts dealer is running a special promotion (hey, I make this stuff up, so be quiet…) and needs an image.
“Baby, it’s cold outside” is the promo and he wants to sell a bunch of car and truck heater tuneups in his three franchises. The images will be in local newspaper, billboards and point of purchase displays in and around his stores.?
He has no idea what he wants… he is leaving that up to you.
If you are a people shooter, how will that look to you? Is there a still life idea in your head that will make people want to get the heater fixed on their old Pinto?
There better be… he has a decent budget and has been using another photographer for two years. He is trying you because (a. the other photographer is in bed with the flu; b. the other photographer was just caught sleeping with the guys wife; 3. the other photographer hasn’t been keeping up on Project 52 and is therefor only slightly above photomoron) and you are ready, willing and able to do this gig.
And you are not interested in his wife.
OK – thinking caps on?
And remember these very important items.
The image will be used for newspaper and billboards. It has to present well in both very small and very large usage.
A. do one shot for both, making sure that the image you create will be able to work in the different sizes.
B. do two shots of the same subject, taking into consideration the sizes they will be used for.
This one will be a blast (of cold air)… heh.
